With late summer in full swing, the count down till the first snow begins.  Veggies galore now, the best time of the year, really. Everything ripens to their seasonal best and with the nights cooling down a bit as well, plants get some rest at night and get to bring out their best.

Our veggie boxes are loaded now with all the fruits of the field. All grown for their right season and not artificially created in green houses. Some very tasty melons and watermelons coming up too.  We got some seed for the French Charentais melons, and we grew a bunch. Apparently the tastiest melon on the planet, but who are we to decide. But we will add it to your veggie box so you can decide.

Winter has come early. The first snow of the season has sparked the Niseko powder virus. Now with 6 months of white landscapes and cold ahead of us, we all look ahead to  those magical turns in deep Niseko powder.

These little tomatoes were our favourites this year. The ultimate healthy snack. Always looking for some new varieties to grow, these flavour bombs will surely return next year.

A hungry goat is an angry goat. So to prevent that they got us working hard to make sure they got enough to eat during our long white winters.

I was not easy to dry grasses this summer with the enormous amout of rain we have had. But this week has been really nice and some true Hokkaido weather returned. The weather we all love so much.

Busy with a million things, but with more new rain coming we had to get the straw bales in, otherwise they would go bad. At least the goats will have plenty to eat and there may be enough left to make a start at the straw bale house i want to build.

Chilis come in a wide variety of shapes, colours and hotness. These chilis make a great border or pot plant and are handy to have around when you want to spice up your life a bit.

With the forecast of a cool summer, i thought it be a good idea to help our heat loving eggplants a bit and keep their feet nice and warm. Now the long term forecast has changed to warmer and drier than usual. So now the plastic mulch serves well to preserve moisture and suppress weeds. Maybe not the most ideal organic way, but it certainly works well.
